The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has recovered more than KSh 65 million in cash following a morning raid at the Syokimau residence of a senior Nairobi City County official.
In a statement, the EACC said its officers conducted a search operation at the home of Patrick Analo Akivaga, a Chief Officer in charge of Urban Development and Planning at the Nairobi City County Government, as part of an ongoing investigation.
The commission said the operation was carried out under a court-issued search warrant and also extended to a vehicle linked to the official. According to investigators, additional cash was reportedly recovered from the boot of the car during the search.
EACC further stated that, in addition to the large amount of money in local currency, officers also recovered foreign currency and several documents, including land title deeds and government approval papers, which are now expected to undergo further analysis as part of the probe.
The agency did not disclose any further details on the source of the recovered cash or its direct connection to specific transactions, noting that investigations remain ongoing.
No charges have been announced at this stage, and the EACC has not made any formal findings of wrongdoing. The commission said the materials seized will assist in ongoing inquiries into alleged irregularities within the urban development and planning functions at the county level.
More details are expected as the investigation continues.
