KBC Secures 2026 FIFA World Cup Broadcast Rights

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 5, 2026 — Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has secured the rights to broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ensuring millions of football fans across the country will have access to matches from the world’s biggest sporting event.

The national broadcaster confirmed the development just days before the tournament kicks off on June 11, ending weeks of uncertainty over whether Kenyan viewers would be able to watch the competition on free-to-air television.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the largest in the tournament’s history, featuring 48 teams for the first time. Matches will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with football giants from around the world competing for the coveted trophy.

KBC said it has finalized arrangements to air matches throughout the month-long tournament, giving Kenyan audiences access to live coverage, match highlights, analysis, and special programming.

The confirmation comes as excitement builds among football fans ahead of the expanded tournament, which is expected to attract a record global audience.

Sports stakeholders have welcomed the move, noting that free-to-air access will enable more Kenyans to follow the matches regardless of their ability to subscribe to pay television services.

The World Cup is scheduled to begin on June 11 and conclude with the final on July 19, bringing together the best national teams and some of the biggest stars in world football.

Further details on KBC’s broadcast schedule, including match coverage and programming lineup, are expected to be announced in the coming days.
